Mission
The aim of Equity in Education is to improve educational and social outcomes for children and young people, in particular those with additional support needs.
Our objectives are to:
- Help children and young people, families, schools and education authorities to work together, generally through promoting a positive approach to inclusive education and specifically through facilitating person-centred planning and circles of support
- Engage members (currently in excess of 400) in contributing to the development of educational legislation and policy
- Provide information, advice, support and advocacy for children and young people with additional support needs and their families
- Provide training programmes for parents, teachers, classroom assistants, education managers, social work and health staff, on the theory and practice of inclusive education
- Undertake participatory research on equality and inclusion in educational settings
- Disseminate information on good practice in inclusive education.
